Sports nutrition stores sell not only real nutrition supplements. They market steroidal substances as nutrition supplements and offer them for sale. But authorities put efforts to control and avoid sale of steroids as if they were true supplements. That’s why clerks of sports nutrition stores sell steroids illegally. Those who come to such shops are frequently informed that they may buy steroids too.
But these conditions are known not only by consumers of steroids but also by law enforcements. So, law enforcements conduct undercover investigations in order to bust sports nutrition shops that offer steroids for sale. Clerks should know that if a client wants to obtain steroids, arranging a deal outside the store, he must be an undercover officer. That’s why those that are implicated in illicit actions related to sale of steroids should be very careful to prevent legal problems. Although they know about these aspects, they make common mistakes which result in arrests, charges and imprisonment.
Let present a story about a clerk of the General Nutrition Centers (GNC) store located in East Walpole (Massachusetts). George Touma sold anabolic steroids along with nutrition supplements. When police officers were informed about illicit operations of this man, they started an investigation. The investigation lasted circa a month and was conducted by The Walpole Police Department.
An undercover police officer came to the shop often and bought dietary supplements. He was talking to the clerk very frequently. So, a friendly relation was formed. Finally they discussed about steroids. The undercover agent said that he would like to obtain anabolic steroids. So, he agreed to obtain 2 vials of steroids from George Touma. The police officer had to give $300 for the medicines. The deal was arranged outside the shop. After the purchase had taken place police officers arrested the clerk.
As a result, George Touma was accused of illegal possession and sale of anabolic steroids.
