Inhaled corticosteroids and asthma complications

Inhaled corticosteroids are frequently advised in case of early stages of asthma complications.
According to several latest researches, one can increase the typical does of inhaled corticosteroids by 8 times, but positive effects will be not enhanced in such situation. Ejaz Yousef, a specialist that has been involved in these studies, notices that if a physician sees that medical position of a patient worsens, he/she can recommend taking oral steroids instead of enhancing the dose of inhaled corticosteroids. Increasing the quantity of inhaled corticosteroids is not without any negative symptom. This factor leads to different negative consequences. Administration of inhaled steroids was considered to be alternative to applying oral products. It was in 1997. It was fixed to prescribe inhaled corticosteroids as alternatives of oral drugs that are effective for individuals with asthma complications.
Then, several researches have displayed that application of enhanced doses of inhaled steroids regularly doesn’t increase positive effects.
Yousef and his colleagues have conducted a study that implicated almost 200 kids of 2-17 years. These children were treated with inhaled corticosteroids during 3 months. They were chosen randomly for treatment for a period of 12 days. Any child who suffered from asthma complications was given inhaled steroids. Then the results were evaluated by the experts.
No any kid that smoked, experienced symptoms of chronic asthma or lung pathology was implicated in the research.
Patients needed to inform about their side consequences per telephone within 72 hours.  So, it was reported about cough during nighttime, wheeze, shortness of breath and intolerance  when it comes to exercises. Each symptom was evaluated according to a score which was ranged from 0 to 4. 0 meant no any effect; 4 meant the highest severity level.
Only 4 children out of 82 the children that were given increased dosages of inhaled corticosteroids had to apply systemic corticosteroids. Two2 of them were given doubled quantities; others two were administering the quantity which was more enhanced by 8 times than a standard one.
According to the results of the study, effectiveness of the drugs, placebo effect, supervision of experts and treatment of patients during early stages of asthma exacerbation were responsible for obtaining good results.
This as well as other studies manifest that not each story about steroids is linked with abuse and application of them by athletes. Steroids are useable for a lot of medical purposes.
