Bodybuilder smuggled over 3 kg of raw steroid powder to Australia

Brenton Dowell, an Australian bodybuilder, was caught possessing and illegally importing great quantities of anabolic steroids in March 2011. Thus, according to the defense attorney, Brenton Dowell became addicted to bodybuilding and started to take steroids because he was an overweight kid.
The judge Graeme Hicks was impressed by words of the defense attorney that presented experiences of Brenton Dowell in his childhood. He added that it could be concluded that Dowell had become obsessed by bodybuilding.
So, the judge believed the arguments of the defense attorney. Based on the descriptions and arguments of the defense attorney, the judge Graeme Hicks concluded that Brenton Dowell had ordered steroids personal use and for sales to his friends in order to pay off self-administration.
Brenton Dowell was sentenced to a fine of 10, 000 dollars and 2-year suspended sentence.
