It is strange that Nadzeya Ostapchuk has tested positive for steroid metenolone

Nadzeya Ostapchuk, a shot putter from Belorussia won the 2012 Olympic gold medal. But she lost the medal because she was caught using the anabolic steroid metenolone (methenolone). She provided two samples. The substance metenolone presented in both urine samples.
If you read steroid scandals, you must know that competitive sportspeople and bodybuilders are usually caught taking other steroids and/or doping products. But as for Nadzeya Ostapchuk, she tested positive for metenolone. It is strange, according to statements of anti-doping officers. What does this prohibited product represent? Why don’t sportspersons ordinarily administer this drug for increase of performance?
Metenolone is an anabolic steroid. It has slight androgenic features. It works like testosterone, increasing muscle mass and adding strength.
Although this drug possesses only mild androgenic nature, it causes development of sex male characteristics in women. Females that apply this remedy may face usual effects of masculinization: the voice deepens; excessive hair grows on the face and on other parts of the body; etc.
This medication may be applied orally or through injections.
Metenolone (Methenolone) causes amazing effects, when it is taken by athletes during their trainings. It is not administered during competitions. It doesn’t work, if it is used only on the day of a competition.
It is also confirmed that it is easy to detect those that apply this anabolic steroid.
Negative consequences of Metenolone (Methenolone) hinge on measures that are applied. They include water retention, hypercalcaemia, bone growth, hirsutism, acne, hair loss, troubles linked with menstrual cycles, increased libido, etc.
Thus, when you see a female athlete that has deep voice and excessive hair growth on the body, you may suspect her of doping. In fact, it is wrong because these troubles may appear also in those women that don’t take any steroids. But sometimes these effects display that certain female athletes administer preparations which have androgenic nature.
